Reflections on the first K-Board Trustees' Meeting

It is very clear that God has His hand on the ministry called “Kaleidoscope” because He brought together a group of men and women for our organizational meeting who has the knowledge and skills needed to launch it.  After brief introductions, Margaret Scott shared how she and Jon came to West Seattle, and the goal of Kaleidoscope - which is to provide a model of ministry that developing leaders can replicate, to train emerging leaders, especially those of ethnic minorities, and to help local churches like West Seattle engage their communities.

As the discussion got underway Dr. Woody Self, former President of Malone College and professor of business, showed us what we needed to do in order to accomplish a great deal of what was on our agenda.  He stated that the board should be structured in such a way that will allow the leaders to do what they are passionate about and told us that the more focus we have the more successful Kaleidoscope will be.  Dr. Self committed to overseeing the filing for the 501c3.  He also recommended that we elect our CEO, Secretary, and Treasurer as our beginning officers.  Margaret Scott was elected CEO, Eleanor Zweigle Secretary, and Debra Voelker Treasurer.

Following Dr. Self’s instructions to clarify our mission statement, a sub committee made up of Jon and Margaret Scott, Pastors Chuck Judd and Terry Matson, and businessman Randall Davey will meet to formulate the mission and vision casting of Kaleidoscope.
After our meeting we all felt that Kaleidoscope has taken a great surge forward and we are excited to see what God will bring about as we continue to pray and follow His leading for this ministry.
